I am running to be the Councillor for Ward 2 because I believe the cost of living has become unmanageable for too many residents, and it’s time for a change. As a member of this community, I’ve seen families and individuals struggle to make ends meet, whether it’s affording housing, utilities, or everyday necessities. I’m committed to finding solutions that make life more affordable, from advocating for fair housing policies to ensuring that essential services are accessible and fairly priced. I want to ensure everyone calling Strathcona County home has the opportunity to live comfortably and thrive, without the constant worry of financial strain.
I’ve always believed that strong communities are built through collective action, compassionate leadership, and a commitment to making life better for everyone. My journey in Strathcona County began as a volunteer, where I dedicated myself to causes that directly impact our residents. From the Transportation and Traffic Safety Task Force, Strathcona County Victim Services, my work with these organizations has given me a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities we face as a community.
One experience that profoundly shaped my desire to enter municipal politics was my time on the Strathcona County Youth Justice Committee. Working with young people, I saw the immense potential our community holds when we invest in our youth and create pathways for their success. This, combined with my advocacy for accessible and efficient transportation solutions, reinforced my belief that local government has a crucial role in shaping a better future.
But beyond my volunteer roles, it’s my interactions with fellow residents that have inspired me the most. Whether it’s listening to a parent share their concerns about community safety or collaborating with local leaders to support vulnerable populations, I’ve seen how much we care about our county and how much we can achieve when we work together.
Running for municipal politics is a natural extension of my commitment to Strathcona County. I want to be a voice for our community, ensuring that our local government reflects the values, concerns, and hopes of every resident. My goal is to build on the strong foundation we’ve already laid and to bring fresh ideas, energy, and transparency to the decision-making process.
In my campaign, I’ll focus on issues that matter most to us all — whether it’s improving local services, supporting economic growth, or enhancing our public spaces. But above all, I’m committed to listening to you, the residents, and ensuring that your voices guide my action
I will stand for the people I represent first and press the provincial and federal governments on issues that matter to you. This community has shaped my values and my sense of responsibility. Over the years, I have seen the incredible potential of our county and the unique challenges we face as we continue to grow and evolve.
Strathcona County deserves leadership that is transparent, accountable, and dedicated to making our community the best it can be. That’s why I am running in this election — to serve the people of Ward 2 and to work towards a brighter, more sustainable future for us all.
I hope to earn your vote for Tracey Giroux in Ward 2
