As we think about the future of Ward 2, it’s essential that our seniors, who have contributed so much to our community, are supported, respected, and able to enjoy a high quality of life. Seniors are not just residents; they are our neighbours, mentors, and family members. Their wellbeing strengthens all of us.
Housing Options That Fit Their Needs:
One of the biggest challenges many seniors face is finding housing that is both affordable and suited to their needs. Too often, housing does not reflect the realities of aging. Accessibility, affordability on a fixed income, and proximity to services are real concerns.
I am committed to championing housing options that allow seniors to remain independent, stay in their community, and continue to thrive. From accessible design features to thoughtful placement near healthcare, transit, and essential services, every senior deserves a home that supports their health, comfort, and dignity.
Recreation Is for Every Generation:
Recreation is not just for younger families. It is vital for seniors too. Staying active, socially engaged, and connected is key to maintaining health and wellbeing.
That’s why I will advocate for programs and facilities that are safe, accessible, and designed with seniors in mind.
Whether it’s low-impact fitness programs, walking groups, bridge clubs, or arts and cultural activities, seniors should always have opportunities to participate fully in community life. Recreation enriches lives at every age, and it helps build connections across generations.
Multi-Generational Community Hubs
The best communities are those where all generations come together. Seniors thrive when they’re able to share their knowledge, connect with younger people, and stay engaged in everyday community life.
I support the development of multi-generational community hubs where residents of all ages can come together to learn, play, and support one another. Seniors benefit from services close to home, while children and families gain the wisdom and mentorship of older generations.
A Stronger Community for Every Generation:
Supporting seniors is about more than just programs or facilities. It's about respect, inclusion, and choice. It’s about building a Ward 2 where seniors can feel secure, engaged, and valued.
Investing in seniors also strengthens our entire community. When we ensure seniors have the housing, recreation, and spaces they need, we create a Ward that is vibrant, connected, and caring.
Let’s Build This Future Together:
I want to hear from seniors and their families. What challenges do you see?
What opportunities can we create?
Your experiences and ideas matter. and Together, we can build a community that honors your contributions and meets your needs. Because when we invest in seniors, we invest in all of us.
