GIROUX LAUNCHED HER CAMPAIGN FOR STRATHCONA COUNTY COUNCIL, PLEDGING TO MAKE LIFE MORE AFFORDABLE, CREATE JOBS & IMPROVE COMMUNITY SAFETY
SHERWOOD PARK – Community advocate and Community Peace officer Tracey Giroux officially announced her candidacy for Ward 2 in Strathcona County. With 16 years of experience and a deep commitment to her community, Giroux is ready to deliver needed change.
“As a mom, volunteer, and longtime resident, I understand the struggles our families face today,” said Giroux. “Affordability, safety, and community well-being will be at the heart of every decision I make as your councillor.”
Giroux’s dedication to the community was recently recognized with the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal. She believes that, together, the residents of Strathcona County can make life more affordable, create safer neighborhoods, and build a thriving local economy.
Giroux’s campaign platform focuses, among other commitments, on:
Implementing targeted property tax rebates
Introducing affordable housing tax breaks
Reducing utility costs for families
Enhancing public transportation access and affordability
Improving community services for seniors
Hiring more police officers
Expanding neighborhood watch programs and public safety education
Expanding bike patrol services for RCMP & Enforcement Services
Creating a Local Investment Attraction Taskforce to bring industry and job opportunities to the County
Giroux also pledged to champion an expansion of local hospital services in the County and to fight for the construction of the Emerald Hills and Aspen Trails firehall. She said the County needs more recreational facilities so families, including hers, can stick closer to home.
“This campaign is about putting people first,” said Giroux. “I know rising costs and rising crime are two major issues I’m hearing from people on the doorsteps every day. My message to them is — there is a better way. I have a plan that will deliver real results for the community I have served for so long. This is my home and I’m going to work day and night to make things better.”
